Desserts
Desserts don't have to be sweet and sticky to be tasty. Why not try a healthier alternative such as:.
- Fruit - fresh, stewed or dried such as apricots, prunes, apples, pears, bananas, nectarines, mangoes, grapes, melon, pineapple and kiwi fruit.
- Fruit salad - make your own or try the ones tinned with natural juice.
- Sugar-free jelly with fruit.
- Yoghurt or fromage frais.
- Sugar-free whips and mousses.
- Custard and rice pudding - made with skimmed or semi-skimmed milk.
- Stewed fruit (without sugar) or tinned fruit in natural juices. Can be added to yoghurts, fromage frais and milk puddings.
- Teacake, currant bun, crumpet or plain muffin (thinly spread with margarine).
- Slice of malt loaf, fruit loaf or tea cake.
- Milkshakes made with skimmed or semi-skimmed milk.
- Plain semi-sweet biscuits eg. Rich Tea biscuits.
- Banana bread or carrot cake.
