Ingredients
½ small onion
1 small carrot
2 medium potatoes
100g/4oz minced beef
1 dessertspoonful tomato puree
Pinch mixed herbs
cup boiling water
1 tablespoon gravy granules
Black Pepper

Method
- Peel and chop onion and carrot. Peel and quarter potatoes.
- Brown mince in a frying pan. Drain off excess fat.
- Stir in chopped onion and carrot. Cook for five minutes.
- Stir in the tomato puree and the herbs.
- Pour the water into the frying pan and bring to the boil. Sprinkle in the gravy granules, stirring continuously.
- Cover and simmer for 20 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile bring a pan of water to the boil. Add the potatoes and boil for 20 minutes until soft.
- Drain off the water, mash until smooth. Season with pepper.
- Remove the mince mixture from the heat and pour into an ovenproof dish. Spoon the mashed potato onto the meat and spread evenly with a fork.
- Place under the grill for 5 minutes or until golden and crispy.
