Healthy Breakfasts
Start the day in a different way with these energy boosting breakfasts...
Muesli
500g porridge oats
100g toasted almonds, chopped
2 tablespoons pumpkin seeds
2 tablespoons sunflower seeds
100g ready to eat dried apricots, chopped
Mix together the oats, almonds, seeds and apricots.
Store in a sealable container for up to one month.
Serve with milk or yogurt. Makes 15 servings.
Apple and Almond Yogurt Serves 1
1small carton natural yogurt
15g flaked almonds
1 tablespoon sultanas
½ apple
1. Put the yogurt in a bowl and add the almonds and sultanas.
2. Grate the apple add to the bowl and mix together. Chill in the refrigerator overnight. Use as a topping for cereal.
Fresh Fruit Bagel
1 plain or cinnamon bagel
25g low fat cream cheese
1 teaspoon clear honey
1 pinch of ground cinnamon
Fresh fruit - strawberries, raspberries, kiwi, pineapple, mango.
1. Halve the bagel and toast on both sides.
2. Mix together the cream cheese and honey. Spread over the toasted bagel.
3. Sprinkle with cinnamon and top with fresh fruit of your choice.
